PatchUp is an amalgamation of modern applique and contemporary silhouettes. Our signature style draws inspiration from the traditional Pipili applique, a craft rooted in the cultural tapestry of India, and Mexican applique, resulting in a unique fusion that is both vibrant and timeless. This modern applique technique was pioneered by Debi Prasanna Nanda, who has dedicated four decades of his life to perfecting and preserving this craft. As a craft approved by the Odisha Government wrapped in various promotional schemes under the Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India. He has been instrumental in elevating this art form to new heights. This craft is also registered under GI (geographical indication) as 'Pipili Applique'.

About the Founder
However, the rise of fast fashion has endangered this craft, threatening to erase centuries of artistry and tradition. At PatchUp, we are committed to reviving and preserving this invaluable cultural heritage. Ayushi’s journey began in her childhood, when she was surrounded by artisans and immersed in the world of crafts. Her father’s passion for art and his commitment to the craft left a profound impact on her, shaping her vision for ‘PatchUp’. From attending art exhibitions to experimenting with techniques alongside her father, Ayushi’s connection to this craft runs deep.
After graduating and stepping into the wider world, Ayushi realised the colours and vibrancy she grew up with were missing from the mainstream fashion scene. This realisation ignited her determination to create a clothing line that not only supports her father and the artisans, who are like family but also brings the richness of this craft to a global audience.
PatchUp has received recognition not only from celebrities but from fashion enthusiasts worldwide. Yet, the journey is ongoing. Challenges remain, and there are paths still to be paved. By choosing PatchUp, you are not just purchasing a garment; you are making a significant contribution to the sustainability and revival of a cherished craft.

Our processes
Firstly, our fabrics are washed and ironed like any other brand processes. Then the patterns are cut, now comes the interesting part where the patches are cut and tacked to the base fabric patterns. Then, the artisans handstitch the patches intricately to the base. The handwork takes may take 3- 12 days depending on patchwork design and intricacy of patches. Then, the fabric is stitched, finished and packed ethically for our customers. Thank you for being a part of this journey. Your support keeps this art form alive and thriving.
